Surface Preparation

Make sure that all surfaces are clean, dry and structurally sound before product is applied. New asphalt and concrete must be at least 28 days old. Concrete should be free of hydrostatic pressure and curing compounds. Wash old concrete with strong detergent and water. Wood must be clean and free of splinters. Unroll artificial turf and allow it to relax for at least one hour prior to installation in sun or shade conditions similar to where turf will actually be installed. Note: this adhesive will not prevent wood warping.

Product Application

Lay measured carpet in position without adhesive, butting seam edges or overlapping them slightly. Roll carpet back to an area that will permit carpet to contact adhesive within 15 minutes. Working time will vary depending upon temperature and humidity.

Use a 1/8" x 1/8" X 1/8" trowel for rough or deep waffle-backed carpets or a 3/32" x 3/32" x 3/32" trowel for smooth-backed carpet goods. Roll carpet backing into AWP-40 adhesive to avoid flopping which may cause air pockets and bubbling. Smooth bonded area using a carpet tube or a short 2 x 4. Do not use a roller. Avoid using knee kickers on artificial turf as they may subject the turf to too much stress.

Lift newly-laid carpet occasionally to make sure that adhesive is transferring fully to carpet back. Good adhesive contact must be made with at least 50% of the backing surface. If bubbling occurs after smoothing, puncture a small hole in center of bubble to allow solvent to escape and smooth carpet again. After installation, restrict traffic for at least 12 hours.

Drying Time

Up to 1 hour working time. Restrict traffic for at least 12 hours.

Cleanup

Use mineral spirits.
